Valk Exclusief cherishes a precious legacy that began with founder Martinus Van der Valk: a philosophy not only about running hotels but also about passing them on to the next generation. This principle is deeply rooted in our family history. We plant a tree for every GreenChoice stay or for two OrangeChoices.
Together, we can offset CO₂ emissions

We plant a tree in our own forest
Together, we pass on a greener world
Trees4next
At the heart of this initiative is Trees4Next: our own tree-planting project, through which we are creating a new forest to help offset the CO₂ emissions generated by both you and us. And not in some far-off, exotic location, but right here in the hills of Scotland.
Everything for the next generations
We are the generation that must act now, giving the idea of ‘passing on’ a whole new meaning. Every tree we plant in Scotland and every sustainable initiative we introduce in our hotels helps raise awareness that the choices we make today lay the foundation for the hotels of tomorrow.
By doing so, we are not only passing on what we have inherited, but also what we have created. We want to leave behind more than just our hotels: a greener world for our future guests and for the generations of Valks who will follow us.
Will you join us?
„Hands-on“- mentality
We bring our hands-on mentality to the hills of Greenhope Woodlands in Ellemford, Scotland in one of the most deforested countries in Europe.
Why here? Because doing things ourselves and staying in control is part of our family DNA. And that is only possible when we can stay close to the project. That’s why we chose to look closer to home, rather than planting trees in a rainforest in Borneo or the Amazon.
We do much more than planting trees
Every choice makes a difference
Together with you, we can compensate for every overnight stay, meal, meeting, or transport. For every Green or OrangeChoice stay, we plant a tree: 1 tree for every 2 OrangeChoices and another for every GreenChoice.
With the OrangeChoice, you can choose not to have your towels replaced. With the GreenChoice, you can choose not to have your room cleaned during stays of two nights or more.
